Another rant on this funny joke called christian media

Yep, ol’ Hughes is off on another one of his anti-christian media rants!!! I hope everyone is as excited as i am.

So what’s on today’s agenda other than repeating myself? Great question. Actually, i just kinda re-realized how far behind christian media is with the secular in most areas. I’m sitting here listening to my christian death metal (anyone who says “oxymoron” will be shot on site, just kidding), which is one of the few good forms of christian art because its an underground that only really surfaces at places such as Cornerstone Festival, and a secular metal song i have popped up. It was a different style of metal so one can’t really make an accurate comparison. But it made me realize how far behind christian media is. I mean, they are just now making rated R movies as far as i know, and Passion of the Christ doesn’t count. here is a link to the trailer on Apples’ website: http://www.apple.com/trailers/independent/house/

For those of you who don’t know, its based off a book called House by Ted Dekkard and Frank Paretti (i don’t care if i spelled it wrong). Honestly it doesn’t look half bad. Maybe it might actually be good. But i’ve seen other films based of Frank’s works and the SUCKED. My main example is Hangman’s Curse. I could have done a better job and thats just sad. Music was to happy for the story, camerawork was extremely generic making it look like a poorly done made for tv movie, and it would have been nice if they hired actors-  meaning people who could actually act. That being said, i really hope the director thinks outside the christian bubble and actually steps on people’s toes with this and not make it some piece of crap. If it turns out terrible i think i might cry and then go kill someone. Never read the book or anything but i’m tired of christians sucking at media making

.

  1. I loved this book. My biggest complaint was that it didnt give you enough time behind Barsidious’s meticulous mind. But theyr making a movie? sweet. They tried that with deKker’s “Three”. “three” was phenomenal, but the movie was terrible. lets hope they do this right.

  2. OMGSH!!! I LOVE Ted Dekker! He is an incredible author, and i often blow through his books in a few days. House is excellent – one of those books that, as you’re reading it, you can see it playing out like a movie in your head.
