(S&W)How many times do you meet the right person? Once.

Okay,to be perfectly redundant in my reviews of the films I’ve seen, Once blew me away.  I absolutely loved the fact that it was shot with a lower resolution, and the cinematography did not suffer at all because of it.  There were amazingly beautiful shots, and the story was compelling, honest, and well acted.  The thing that impressed me the most was that the actors wrote and performed the songs that were played.  It was such a pleasurable break from musical films like Hairspray.  It was told in a very refined way, and yet the characters themselves were not refined.  There were loose threads in their lives, and were only implications of the two tying up loose knots, but it worked.  Everything about the film just seemed to work together, and the ending was perfect.  The songs held the movie together very well, and I would no second thought into buying those songs and giving them throughout listening, which they deserve.  It was an adult musical film without being distasteful or too depressing, a very hard balance to strike, but they did it.  The film has really inspired me to write music again, as I have tried to in the past but haven’t had the time to since coming here.  But after seeing once, I have some good ideas, and hopefully it inspires more generations to come.
